O Brasil elevou suas tarifas sobre as importações de brinquedos chineses, numa tentativa de ajudar os fabricantes do Mercosul.
Incluídos estão 14 tipos de brinquedos que vão desde bonecos e quebra-cabeças até triciclos e trenzinhos elétricos, que terão alíquotas majoradas de 20 %para 35 % até ao final de 2011, como disse ontem, em um comunicado por e-mail, a Câmara de Comércio Exterior.
A Câmara disse que está agindo a pedido de fabricantes de brinquedos brasileiros para ajudá-los, pois o Brasil tem tido um grande aumento nas importações, 90 % das quais provenientes da China. As tarifas mais altas afetarão as mercadorias cujas importações totalizaram US $ 290.000.000 entre janeiro e novembro deste ano, segundo dados do Ministério do Comércio.
O Ministro do Comércio da China não atendeu a um pedido, por fax, para comentários e uma porta-voz não respondeu a telefonemas.
As importações brasileiras de produtos chineses nos 12 meses até agosto aumentaram 37 %, chegando a US $ 21,4 bilhões, sendo que em todo o ano de 2009 foi de US $ 15 bilhões, segundo um estudo publicado este mês pelo BNDES. O aumento das importações chinesas, impulsionado pelo yuan desvalorizado, ameaça deslocar as vendas no mercado interno por parte dos fabricantes brasileiros e tem implicações importantes no desenvolvimento industrial do país, segundo o BNDES.
O real, com ganho de 37 por cento frente ao Yuan nos últimos dois anos é o terceiro melhor desempenho entre as principais moedas monitoradas pela Bloomberg, atrás do dólar australiano e do rand da África do Sul.
As vendas de brinquedos no Brasil vão chegar a três bilhões de reais (US $ 1,8 bilhões) neste ano, 49 % das quais virão a partir de produtos feitos no exterior, segundo estimativas da Associação Brasileira dos Fabricantes de Brinquedos - ABRINQ. Em 2009, os brinquedos importados representaram 46,8 % dos 2,7 bilhões de reais em vendas, disse o grupo.

Duties on 14 types of toys ranging from dolls and puzzles to tricycles and electric train sets will be increased to 35 percent from 20 percent until the end of 2011, the Foreign Trade Chamber said in an e-mailed statement yesterday.
The chamber said it was acting on a request from Brazilian toymakers to help them “fight” an increase in imports, 90 percent of which come from China. The higher tariffs will affect goods whose imports totaled $290 million between January and November of this year, according to trade ministry data.
China’s Ministry of Commerce didn’t respond to a faxed request for comment and telephone calls to a spokesman weren’t answered.
Brazilian imports of Chinese goods in the 12 months through August increased 37 percent to $21.4 billion, from $15 billion in all of 2009, according to a study published this month by Brazil’s state-development bank. The surge in Chinese imports, boosted by the yuan’s competitive exchange rate, threaten to displace domestic sales by Brazilian manufacturers and has “important implications” for the country’s industrial development, said the bank, known as BNDES.
The real’s 37 percent gain against the yuan over the past two years is the third-best performance among major currencies tracked by Bloomberg after the Australian dollar and South African rand. The 12-month non-deliverable forwards suggest traders are betting that the yuan will strengthen 2.2 percent in one year from its current spot value of 6.625 per U.S. dollar.
Toy sales in Brazil will reach 3 billion reais ($1.8 billion) this year, 49 percent of which will come from products made abroad, according to estimates by Brazil’s toymakers association. In 2009, imported toys accounted for 46.8 percent of 2.7 billion reais in sales, the group said.
